Refugees arrived less than 20 years ago, and many have opened businesses. As much of a necessity as groceries are, shopping at a store in Swatara Township is also a cultural celebration — one that many former Bhutanese refugees worked hard to achieve.'We started building the community too, and that way we are here today,' Yadu Acharya said.In the same complex as the grocery store, Acharya works at his homecare business. He manages offices across the country.
After Acharya's arrival, tens of thousands of former Bhutanese refugees have resettled or relocated to the Harrisburg area.Tika Dhungana is one of them. He's helped his fellow former refugees become citizens, buy homes and start businesses.'Our community has done a lot for the development of this township and the development of this country. I'm very happy,' he said.
