Tomorrow, we sat down with the CFO of GM to discuss the company's earnings beat as high prices from its in demand, vehicles offset losses from its growing easy business. And that's been a consistent theme for the last several quarters. So from that perspective, this quarter, once again, when we're talking about S and P 500 earnings growth to some effect, we're really just talking about the mag seven.
If you told me that NVIDIA is going to come out and beat street estimates again, that's not necessarily shocking. Is some of that.I think maybe that's another side of this argument that people could start to make with it. So we've sort of moved up from that 160 level to about the 190 or so level, but at the same time expectations of inflation or 10 year break evens have also moved wider.
And again, that is something that the bond markets perhaps is sniffing out a little bit and perhaps that's what is leading to some of the deepening and certainly some of the best deepening that we've seen in recent days. I, I guess at what level does this become more of a challenge and more of a risk here for the equity market.
Gy, it makes me wonder about that note from city we talked about earlier in the show, the idea that exposure to the S and P is at record levels and that's typically followed by a potential 10% slump here in your view, based on what you just said, then could earnings growth and quality outweigh any exposure concerns?
We might not know the result of the elections for a cut couple of days that would induce some volatility in the market. And hopefully, uh even if there's volatility, those will create some opportunities for investors to deploy cash from the sidelines.Thank you so much as always for joining us.General Motors beating Wall Street's expectations in its third quarter and raising its full year guidance our very own, Brian Si spoke to GM CFO, Paul Jacobson about the latest results and the outlook for the ev market.
So I think there's a lot of things that are going for us, but most importantly, it's keeping the customer at the front and center of everything that we do has the, the Feds rate cut start to positively influence a company like General Motors, whether it's on the debt side or, or of course, whether it's on the demand side.
So we expect that that can be some momentum for us as we head into 2025 with the expectation of lower rates, but it really starts and ends with the portfolio. We've seen a lot of sales momentum in that and when you look at all the refreshes of the vehicles that we've brought out, the important thing financially is that they're all more profitable and come in at higher margins than what their predecessor vehicles were.
But making sure that we do it with the customer in mind because what we don't want to do is start cut, cutting customer features and making our vehicles less desirable in the uh customer's mind. Why we're seeing such a huge jump in terms, the biggest intraday jump that we've seen since July, I believe is what you just said.So when it comes to the their transition and what they've been doing, implementing more A I tools, helping that drive the cloud sales is certainly paying off.
So I think that's a potential leading indicator of what we might see from other companies of use cases within A I here.Sherwin Williams missing third quarter earnings expectations.Still the company reiterating profit growth expectations for 2024.Let's talk about what is in this report because like we just said, the do it yourself paint market that weighed on sales of the consumer for branded paint, but residential paint sales rising the mid single digits.
So a huge positive lift here when it comes to the optimism surrounding this name, the CEO Bill Brown, he started back in May. In that story, you could clearly see that, see that by the uptick that we've seen since he did become a CEO back in May.Keep right here on Yahoo Finance, we have much more of your market action ahead just about four minutes until the opening bell. We're heading closer to that opening bell on Wall Street and you're watching Morning Brief brought to you by Invesco.I'm gonna flip the board over to what we're seeing in terms of futures.
