HP dropped 9% and its market capitalisation was set to shrink by more than $3 billion, from $37.68 billion on Tuesday, following a quarterly profit projection that was short of the market view. A computer upgrade cycle spurred by Microsoft's end of support for Windows 10 and the transition to Windows 11 was expected also to drive new PC sales. However, adoption of the latest operating system has been slower than anticipated.
