The latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reads almost like science fiction. Towards the end of this century, on current projections, between half and three quarters of the world’s population will be facing “life-threatening conditions” involving extreme heat and humidity, among a host of other existential crises, according to the document.
