Lehigh Hanson, Inc. is closing its controversial cement processing plant in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Cupertino.
Since the cement plan began operations in 1939, materials sourced from it have been used in numerous Bay Area construction projects, including landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge and San Jose International Airport, the company said in its news release.
