Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. will implement the so-called stage-6 load shedding from 4 p.m. on Wednesday “due to severe capacity constraints” at eight coal-powered plants, it said in a statement. That equates to consumers being deprived of power for six or more hours a day.
The struggling utility rationed power on 205 days of last year. While Eskom has never cut more than 6,000 megawatts at a time from the grid, it has used up diesel supplies allocated for the year through March and a unit at its nuclear plant is shut down for a revamp. That means any additional faults among its assets and infrastructure could move the country to a a higher level of outages.
We are in a state of complete crisis. We have no leader with CyrilRamaphosa. He sold us out to GwedeMantashe1 who is new Gupta of SA. Eskom_SA and CyrilRamaphosa must march according to his orders. We are back to state capture
There goes foreign investment, opportunity to generate income to pay World Bank loan, the rest of taxes are stolen by ANC, private sector is crippled by load shedding. Applause to ANC!
Useless, bungling governance!!!!!!
I fear stage 7/8 coming verrrry soon 😭
Also try to enlighten the public on the type of parts and spares used on this plant, this way they get to know how weak the part and components are. It's not only corruption here. Something to think about.
And yet, gov still insist on having Eskom as the sole electricity provider. Justice groups should challenge this in court, not fair to bar alternatives if you cannot fulfill the demand.
With casualised labour and contracts-based employment of professional technicians/engineers based on the privatisation economic model shoved down the throat of this adminisration by the Washington Consensus based IMF-World Bank conditional loans, loadshedding is here to stay!
LEGACY OF THE ANC. When they talk about rebalation they that as citizen of South Africa must suffer.
