Colorado hasn’t seen a live greyhound race in 15 years — but millions of dollars continue to pour in on dog races happening around the world. Now state lawmakers want to make greyhound betting a thing of the past.

would close the loophole that has allowed Coloradans to continue to bet on a sport the state already outlawed. It seems disingenuous to ban racing here while still perpetuating the sport elsewhere through betting, said Rep. Mike Lynch, the top-ranking Republican in the House, and one of the bill’s sponsors.

Only Florida, Oregon, North Dakota and Texas accepted more wagers on greyhound racing last year than Colorado, according to Grey2K.

I am shocked that a Republican would do anything to protect any wildlife, even dogs. They are part of the ranching hunting big corporate groups that put profit above all life, including dogs. Then they will go on to use this in campaigns to say they are pro-wildlife, ha!

greyhounds are meant to run..

How about making Fentanyl a thing of the past? We have a big problem I’m Colorado.

Y just regulate it better people will adopt the dogs

this is cruelty to doggos 😔

May they get good homes which includes being fed❤️❤️

Yeah, greyhounds are the critical issue. Not theft and rising crime. Fentanyl. Poor schools. Homeless vets…it’s the dogs.

More nannystate government. This bill won't end greyhound racing in other states. Stop meddling with our lives.

The Colorado legislature….working small to big.
