School districts across the country are increasingly taking on social media, filing lawsuits that argue that Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok and YouTube have helped create the nation’s surging youth mental health crisis and should be held accountable.

against the social media companies, laying out a similar case. It’s not because they are against social media, said Commission Chair Bob Harvie — who points out the county itself has used TikTok — but rather that the algorithms that get teens to “keep looking, keep focusing, keep scrolling” take a toll on kids’ mental health.“The way we look at it, it’s not unlike the way cigarette companies used to manipulate nicotine levels to make sure that people kept smoking,” Harvie said. “...

In northern New Jersey, the School District of the Chathams has invested increasing resources over the years to help students struggling with anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts, said attorney Michael Innes, whose firm is representing the district in its litigation filed in “We’ve spoken to school districts that have made a decision between spending on mental health and spending on classroom education,” Innes said.

We all parents need to be in the crimes against our children they have caused

Yes yes french crazy mad in . .. ...

Facebook is toxic, too.

There's a reason that girls' mental health took a plunge in 2012--the start of the social media trend among kids.

They are gonna have to prove there was intent to create a mental health crisis for anything to change. Either that or get Congress to force regulation on them as they do with movies through the FCC.

Here’s an idea…Maybe it should be against the law for anyone under the age of 19 to have a social media account or a smartphone.

Actually, good. As I’m fed up with ad spam hazards omitted & felon misused social media & the Internet. And I’m like mainly a Tort Reform advocate. But since so many workers hammer at “top” yoga studios, near my “best places” home at 3 am (omitted in the online faked planet)…

Always blame someone else.

The suits should fail because it's not the networks that do the bullying, it's their users who do the bullying.

School Districes have bigger problems. Baltimore City’s black student math scores were the lowest in the state; 7% of third through eighth graders tested proficient in math, meaning 93% could not do math at grade level. This is the Democrats idea of education.

Don’t allow phones in school. Pretty simple.

Wonder if forcing kids to cover their faces and stay in their rooms for two years had anything to do with it?

I speak for all REAL AMERICANS when I say that WE as a NATION need a law that requires WHITE PEOPLE to pay a monthly REPARATIONS FEE to POC & LGBTQIA+ people to PAY FOR HISTORIC DISCRIMINATION. We also need a MANDATORY LGBT class in ALL schools! To teach kids OPPRESSION!

We must hold women accountable for their narcissistic ways and trying to normalize toxic behavior on instagram.
