Worth it? Janet Solomon says coverage of Total’s gas and oil find has largely neglected to ask whether potential financial gains are worth the environmental cost of offshore drilling. Photo: Mike Hutchings/ReutersTotal has broadcast an immense gas-condensate discovery at its offshore Brulpadda 1AX prospect rig operation in the Outeniqua Basin, due south of Plettenberg Bay.
This deep-sea find has taken Total five years since a “chaotic combination of currents, waves and winds” in 2014 wreaked mechanical havoc on its rig, stopping operations.
I wonder what or how much will SAns get out of this or is it the preserve of the ruling party 🤷🏽♀️
