Economic and local government leaders in Pueblo County are offering about $20 million to entice the company dubbed “Project Danish.”

The Colorado Economic Development Commission has approved up to roughly $23 million in incentives to persuade a multinational producer of wind turbine blades to open a plant in Pueblo that is expected to create 2,308 jobs.

The company has operations in or close to major wind energy markets, with more than 10 production facilities and technology hubs on four continents, said Michelle Hadwiger with the Office of Economic Development and International Trade, or OEDIT. The OEDIT staff asked the commission to make an exception to its traditional policy of not using the job growth incentive tax credit and the strategic fund for the same jobs because of the project’s size, potential impact and its “competitive dynamics.” The company’s work aligns with the state’s goals on increasing the use of renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions, the staff said.CS Wind
