A China-based company, Windey Energy, has revealed plans to develop the world's most powerful onshore wind turbine, a 16MW ultra-large turbine that will be a first-of-its-kind. The project is part of Inner Mongolia autonomous region’s Science and Technology Innovation Major Demonstration Project. Windey aims to enhance capabilities in large wind turbine research and development, advancing technological innovation in land-based wind power and supporting grid integration.
The company will develop a 16MW wind turbine prototype with independent intellectual property rights, focusing on design, blade technology, and stability control, promoting efficient use of onshore wind. Windey has expertise in wind energy technology, venturing into energy storage solutions, comprehensive project development, and strategic investments in renewable energy. The company actively engages with over 200 international and national standard committees, shaping industry standards and driving technological advancements. With a workforce of 4,000 employees and 700 R&D engineers, Windey possesses substantial expertise and manpower. Recently, Windey installed the first wind turbine at the Osakarovka 150MW wind power project, the largest single capacity wind project in Central Asia.
