As winter bites, a free drop-in session in Market Drayton is aiming to help people keep warm and save money in the face of rising energy bills.Climate Action group, together with Marches Energy Agency, is hosting the session at The Zone community hub off Linden Way on Friday, January 17 between 9am and 12pm. Expert advisers will be on hand so residents can discuss their individual situations and receive personal advice.
There will also be free energy-saving items to take away including draught-proofing insulating strips and low-energy lightbulbs. Many homes in Market Drayton leak heat, and with energy costs so high that’s bad for people’s pockets and health,' said chair of Market Drayton Climate Action, John Hargreaves. 'It also causes higher carbon emissions that are bad for the planet. Some simple free or low-cost steps can make a difference, and we will be offering information and free items to help. There are also possible grants for larger improvements and people can find out what they may be eligible for and how to access those. We hope people will come along to enjoy refreshments and a chat, and find some real help to stay warm and cut energy costs this winter
