Published: Jan. 09, 2025, 8:44 a.m.Paris Wolfe, cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Parking at Cleveland’s West Side Market is changing to address consumer and vendor feedback. The biggest news is an extension of the free parking period from 60 minutes to 90 minutes. Additional changes are a $6 flat rate for after-hours parking and new signage to better explain parking practices.
“We recognize that the relationship between shoppers and merchants is important, and we want merchants to have time to talk to customers about their products,” says Rosemary Mudry, executive director of the Cleveland Public Market Corporation, the nonprofit that operates the market. “We want to provide free parking for people shopping the market, but not free for people who are doing other things in the neighborhood,” she points out. As the Ohio City neighborhood continues developing and parking availability is under pressure it’s important, she says, to make sure shoppers can find spaces and keep the market healthy. CPMC has, again, improved the signage to make certain folks understand everyone must scan the QR code and participateentering the market hall ... even folks staying for the free period. Those who anticipate for shopping longer, must pre-pay for the extra time.For those uncomfortable using the QR codes of digital technology, a credit card kiosk has been installed. “We’re maintaining Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for free,” notes Marketing Director Patrick Evans
