According to Pick n Pay, some of the grocery items that customers grabbed on Black Friday last year include toilet paper, long-life UHT milk, and rice worth 20 million servings – enough to give a third of all South Africans a bowl.Other top buys in the groceries category include 1.5L cool drink, sunflower oil, washing powder and capsules, chocolate, beer and spice refills.

With many shoppers pinching their pennies this year, Pick n Pay predicts that customers will gravitate towards great value groceries and household products. This will include cooking oil, carbonated cool drinks, biscuits and cool drinks, washing powder, and dishwashing liquid.This year Pick n Pay plans on giving shoppers up to 65% off on products in various categories and will make available enough stock for customers.
