Woke business: have big brands found a conscience or a just marketing ploy?

Can it be both or am I being naive?

I think the question is missing the key point entirely which is capitalism is driven by the choices of consumers, obviously the businesses that thrive are those that respond best to the environment. We shouldn’t expect them to behave otherwise.
