U.S. stocks open higher as S&P 500 attempts to extend Friday’s gains

U.S. stocks opened higher Monday, with the S&P 500 up slightly, as major indexes attempt to extend sharp gains booked Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.28% was up less than 0.1% soon after the opening bell, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.33% rose 0.
