Skelmersdale's beloved toy car shop set to close due to 'unmanageable' £12k business rates

A business in Skelmersdale will be closing due to what it calls 'unmanageable and unrealistic business rates'.

They emphasise that the decision has nothing "to do with the rent prices or the Concourse" itself, stating they are happy with everything that has been going on whilst they've been located in the centre. Slideways, who operate as a Community Interest Company then go on to state that the reason they are leaving is "down to unmanageable and unrealistic business rates which are beyond what we can afford whilst in the centre.

Many customers of Slideways Rc Drift have replied to their post, commenting about their disappointment of the closure news. One user: "Such a shame! All the kids look like they are having so much fun when I pass the shop!" John, the owner of the shop, posted further clarification of the situation in the post marking the announcement of the closure. He writes that the rates charge of £12,000 is "unmanageable".
