Trudi Makhaya, the economic advisor to President Cyril Ramaphosa, has departed from his office after a five-year stint.

Makhaya's resignation is the latest development in an office which is being increasingly made up of ad-hoc and make-do arrangements. Makhaya joined the office in 2018 and was one of Ramaphosa's earliest appointments. Asked recently by News24 if she was planning to resign, she declined to answer but pointed out that she had been in her role for five years.
