Iconic Italian company in Melbourne to close after 70 years

Enoteca Sileno in Carlton will wind back as owners John and Rosemary Portelli are both approaching 70 and plan to retire.

Italian cake Panettone was also introduced to Australia by Di Santo after he moved to Australia in the 1950s.The company said he was part of the 'Spaghetti Mafia' which sought to improve liquor licensing in Australian restaurants, which resulted in the provision of licensed dining after 8pm.
