The decision comes from “a place of wanting to foster a sense of belonging, to open doors to opportunities for all,” a spokesperson said.

Walmart Inc. is reversing course on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, joining a growing list of businesses retreating on DEI programs targeted by conservative activists.

The changes were made public after anti-DEI activist Robby Starbuck posted a social media video saying that he had threatened Walmart with a campaign to lead a customer boycott just days before Black Friday, one of the biggest holiday shopping events of the year. “Walmart is a key part of the economy and when you see them do something, you’re doing to see a lot of other companies follow along,” he said.
