NSTnation: Utility companies especially telecommunications, electricity and water supply services have been urged to offer higher discounts or rebates to alleviate hardships faced by the people during the MovementControlOrder (MCO). coronavirus

Social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the move was important to help ease people’s burdens since they were unable to leave their homes.

“All of these can lead to higher bills. I suggest utility companies consider helping the community in line with the government’s efforts to offer assistance,” he told Bernama. Lee said the current two per cent discount on electricity bills between April 1 to Sept 30 was too low. He also lauded Muhyiddin’s announcement on several assistance initiatives by the government to ease the people’s burden during the MCO.
