Ryan Sandler, the 27-year-old CEO of Truework, said his startup is building a tool to help businesses verify which employees can return to work based on their COVID-19 status.
While it's not yet clear that contracting COVID-19 once provides any kind of future immunity, Sandler says that businesses are looking for some way to track who is and isn't at a high risk of spreading the disease within their workforce. We realized that to get America back to work all HR teams are going to need a management and tracking tool for COVID-19," Sandler told Business Insider.
While the scientific community has yet to reach consensus on the long-term impact of COVID-19 on the population, including whether contracting the virus once provides any kind of immunity, Truework's tool aims to provide a simple glimpse into which employees need to self-quarantine or otherwise stay out of the office because they're sick or at risk.
"Many of our customers are saying, 'We don't know what to do, and how are we going to figure out who can come back to work or not?'" Sandler said. "'How do we verify who has immunity and who doesn't?'"
