Malaysia’s Islamic finance sector to hit RM3t this year, says Bursa chairman

The chairman of Bursa Malaysia Bhd said the country’s Islamic funds industry has demonstrated impressive growth. “There are opportunities for further product innovation and development to provide a more extensive array of Shariah-based products for the industry,” said Abdul Wahid in his keynote address at Shariah Investing Virtual Conference 2020 here today.

In 2019, Malaysia ranked first in terms of Islamic funds AUM with 34 per cent of the global share, he said. “Supported by 16 Islamic brokers, Bursa Malaysia-i offers both faith and ethical based investors access to a broad spectrum of opportunities listed on Bursa Malaysia,” he said.
