Chick-fil-A postpones its free food-filled Cow Appreciation Day due to the coronavirus pandemic

While the free food event isTypically on Cow Appreciation Day, customers who dress up like a cow are able to get free food from the chicken chain. According to the chain, 2 million people participated in the event last year.

"For the time being, we have decided to postpone the annual holiday in honor of our beloved bovines," Chick-fil-A said in a statement to Business Insider. its Cow Appreciation Day website. "We made this decision with the communities we serve in mind, keeping safe service as our highest priority at this time," the website states. "Until we can gather again in person and celebrate our cows, we have created a few fun ways to keep the spirit of Cow Appreciation Day alive this summer."
