After closing to visitors in March because of the pandemic, Yellowstone took a step-by-step approach to reopening. Even now, some campgrounds and facilities remain closed and are expected to stay so through the summer.at most national parks. But the National Park Service, in line with the Trump administration's own waffling over masks, has not made either mandatory.

At 77 years old,"an official old fud," as he puts it, Parks knows he's more vulnerable to COVID-19 than most of the fly fishing guides he hires in his shop. He gets nervous, he says, when someone tries to come in without a mask or when the shop gets packed with people perusing the selection of flies.
On one hand this is what the national parks were created for, on the other the parks have been struggling recently due to lack of funding & I worry about all the park rangers and employees and how this will affect them. If you go be safe, be courteous, leave no trace.
Calm down, NPR Karen.
Us included. The lack of social distancing was a worry.
Ahhh. Covid! Transmission. Fear!

It’s all the California’s going on vacations since their state won’t let them do anything fun.
I still remember when people were defecating on the roads in National Parks during the government shutdown. I don’t expect much. Yeah...

When I was driving from OR to CA, I decided to stop at Crater Lake NP since it was en route. I was mortified to see not that there were tons of visitors, but the lack of masks...and the fact that ppl's personal wipes covered in sh!t were EVERYWHERE on the ground. Humans suck.

We had to get out last weekend too. We drove down skyline drive (Shenandoah National Park) we saw WAY too many maskless people to consider stoping for a hike. Big cheers to the restaurants in Harpers Ferry and Windchester for making us feel safe.
Real cool for everyone who lives in these small towns and did all they could to quarantine and be smart. Now EVERY campground and restaurant and trail is packed with morons from out of state, starting fires, leaving trash and sort of wearing masks. Thanks for visiting!
They invade our towns, spread their germs, and throw their garbage all over. It’s disgusting.
please leave no trace and carry your damn trash out!!
No, they didn't have to get out. They wanted to get out. There's a difference...
Well it’s a pretty safe vacation and your parks are beautiful. I will tube in that river one day.
Headed there the end of Sept, everyone please go home.
Just hit Shenandoah and Mammoth Caves a week or so ago. I was impressed, everyone was social distancing and wearing masks. People were respectful and trying to make the mots out of a challenging time. It was awesome.
