This current situation was conducted above board and 100% legit/legal. The designer/owner was not coerced into the business deal. You want to claim ownership, you go and buy it back, simple really.

She has “warned” that Indigenous communities could turn their backs on their own flag? What does she think the repercussions for anyone else would be? Does she realise the Indigenous population is just 3% of the population? And that the other 97% have no stake in her flag?

The current 'flag' has issues. Clear the air and design a banner that has universal indigenous approval.

The government should under no circumstances “seize” the copyright. The artist responsible for the flag is Indigenous himself, all artists must be compensated. The govt need to pay handsomely for the copyright.
