Projection of 6.5-7.5pc GDP growth for 2021 based on economic expectations, says finance minister

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said the first presumption was on the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine. He said Malaysia is already seeing an improving economy due to external demand in the third quarter of this year and this was expected to continue into next year. He was also optimistic that the economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2020 would improve compared with Q2 and Q3 this year, following positive developments in export activities and manufacturing sector.
