Mining company Adani pays a $26,000 fine for 'misinterpreting' environmental approval conditions at its Carmichael coal mine in central Queensland.

Mining company Adani, now known as Bravus, has paid a $26,000 fine for "misinterpreting" environmental approval conditions at its Carmichael coal mine in central Queensland.

The Department said the mining giant cleared land without surveying the area within an appropriate timeframe. "Two minor compliance issues were raised by the Department in relation to a preclearance survey which had expired by 24 days, and an updated species management plan not being submitted within the three-month window required, following a preclearance survey," the spokesperson said.

And how many jobs were created?

Hope they pay up! They have bad reputation for environmental infringements and it is no surprise to the Federal Govt. They were all warned but the greedy governments wanted Adarsh to rape the land of coal and destroy the Great Barrier Reef.

So the fine is about the cost of clearing for half a day.

Wow! A $26000 fine on a company of this size really will have a serious impact!

No surprises i mean the nsw government under Mike Baird fined santos $1500 for permanently ruining an aquifer with uranium contamination. Mining corps and their politician pets are raping this country.

Throw the wreckers out

A $26K fine for that corrupt company hah

Good

In Switzerland, fines for extreme speeding are set in relation to income. We should apply those standards to fines for deliberate environmental vandalism.

$26K - pocket change for them...

Naughty naughty

Yes but did you see how ridiculously low the fine was? Again?

How about arresting the executives who ordered such crimes and putting them in jail?

Is this some sorta joke.. 26K !!!! Urgh.. ultimately there are no 1st, 2nd, 3rd world countries.. just corrupt govts sucking up to corporates.. some more brazenly than others but they are all the same 🤮

Barely a tap on the hand 😠

In India they have govt support, but it is good to see these corrupts actually getting punishment somewhere.

Of course they do. The white people at the top don’t care about them, they only care about $$$ Less than 10pc of the media mention Biden Family allegations of quid pro quo & while Joe was serving under Obama too, our ABC of 'endless reporting of Trump' is one who refuse to question Ukraine-Beijing Joe Biden, sad 😪. Probably because they don’t actually own the land perhaps?
