Speaker Lord Allan Velasco has decided not to include in the Order of Business the impeachment case filed against Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, reportedly in deference to the Christma

s celebration.Reacting to a newspaper column of retired SC Justice Antonio J. Carpio, lawyer Larry Gadon, who represents complainant Edwin Cordevilla, disputed the former senior magistrate’s stand that Leonen did not violate the Constitution for sitting on cases for over 24 months.

On the last day of regular session last Wednesday, no impeachment case was listed in the order of business. “The argument of retired AJ Carpio may find tolerance 30 years ago when legal research work is done manually and each letter of the decision is typed manually for countless hours,” stated Gadon.

Leonen was also chided for the delay in the resolution of cases filed before the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal which he heads as chairman.
