It took just three months for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to pave a farm-to-market road in a very green area of Barangay Basalem, Buug town, Zamboanga Sibugay.

“The completed Basalem Farm-to-Market Road greatly facilitated the speedy delivery of products, reducing travel time to 20 minutes from Barangay Basalem in the Municipality of Buug to the city center of Zamboanga Sibugay province,” DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said.

The Mindanao road was constructed in just 90 days amid the persisting coronavirus disease pandemic, the DPWH boss said. Portland cement was used to create concrete some 200 millimeters thick, while the construction of stone masonry and grouted riprap, wide shoulder and gabions for slope protection were also carried out.
