Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals is another leading biotech specializing in RNA interference, a technology platform aiming to silence genes that cause disease. Over the past year, the California company grew its head count from 134 to 232 people. The growth is continuing. A Natera spokesperson told Insider the company is up to 2,106 employees as of Thursday, and the company plans to hire another 500 workers this year. That growth is supporting Natera's strategy of expanding its DNA-testing technology beyond prenatal testing and into oncology and organ health, the spokesperson said.
