Senior pig farming figures have told Sky News the sale of one of the country’s biggest producers to a foreign company could decimate the local industry.

The consumer watchdog is now investigating the world’s leading meatpacker JBS – whose parent company has a history of serious criminal misconduct.

The Brazilian-owned giant has grown in Australia over the past 15 years to become the country’s largest meat and food processing company.
