KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — Travel-related industry players have welcomed the lifting of the prohibition on interstate and overseas travel, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.
Socar chief executive officer Leon Foong commended the Ministry of Health, the frontliners, and the public for contributing towards meeting the timeline set in ensuring that 90 per cent of Malaysian adults are fully vaccinated. Foong said as the economy reopens and interstate travel resumes, the company believes that there will be a huge rebound in domestic tourism, coupled with an increase in demand for land transport.“If the pattern of demand in other countries is anything to go by, we are looking at a rapid spike in demand, and are currently working on building up a reliable supply base as we reopen for interstate travel,” he added.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airlines is offering airfares as low as RM59 all-in one way and up to 50 per cent discount on MHholiday packages as the nation celebrates the relaxation of interstate travel announcement by the government.
