Police have called for information from the public after confirming that a Limpopo University professor and accountant was shot and killed in Polokwane, Limpopo.

Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says Professor Saber Tayob Mohammed was jogging near his home when he was attacked by unknown assailants.

Mojapelo says Mohammed was shot about 10 times at close range by attackers who fled in a white VW Polo car. “Police in Polokwane have launched a manhunt of suspects who shot and killed a 51-year-old man whilst jogging in Munnik street along Sterpark in Polokwane on Sunday morning. The suspects who were driving in a white VW Polo allegedly shot at the victim several times at point blank and then fled the scene the motive is unknown at this stage.”
