JOHOR BARU: A company director in Batu Pahat was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here for allegedly being involved in corruption.

According to an MACC source, the 44-year-old woman was arrested at about 6pm on Sunday at the Johor Baru MACC office.

The source added that in 2021, the suspect’s company, which holds a Grade 3 contractor licence, was believed to have paid a sum of money as inducement allowing it to carry out works for projects under the Grade 2 category. State MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.
