Northern Cape police have opened a case of culpable homicide following an accident involving African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament, Mxolisi Sokatsha, on the N12 road, 20 kilometres outside Belmont on Friday night.

Northern Cape police have opened a case of culpable homicide following an accident involving African National Congress Member of Parliament, Mxolisi Sokatsha, on the N12 road, 20 kilometres outside Belmont on Friday night. Sokatsha, a former MEC in four provincial departments, died at the scene. The accident also claimed the life of another person.“In the Ranger, there were two occupants, the driver age 56 who unfortunately died on the scene. His passenger was injured and was transported to the hospital in Kimberley for medical treatment. In the Fortuner, there was a family of four, a mother, father and two children – a girl age 11, a boy 9. However, the mother died on the scene of the accident.

ANC member of Parliament and former Northern Cape Public Works MEC, Mxolisi Sokatsha has died in a car crash.
