Six candidates were interviewed in Sandton, Johannesburg, for the two positions on Wednesday before commissioners went into deliberation to select the best two nominees. Noncembu is North West Regional Court President, who has also been acting as a judge in various high courts. JSC co-spokesperson Doris Tshepe made the announcement about the two recommended candidates at a media briefing on Wednesday night.
