The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Mohammad Bello on Thursday ordered the indefinite closure of Dei-Dei International Market following a clash between commercial motorcyclists and traders.

A death of a yet-to-be-identified woman in the area was said to have led to a clash between the traders and ‘Okada’ riders.

The clash resulted in the destruction of goods worth billions of naira in the market, while many vehicles were also destroyed. The minister gave the directive after inspecting the scene of the incident with the FCT Commissioner of Police, Sunday Babaji, Director, State Security Services with other sister security agencies and top officials of the FCT Administration.

Bello also directed the community and the market leaders to fish out the hoodlums responsible for the crisis. He said: “The community and market leaders must fish out hoodlums and bad eggs among them, unfortunately this time around hoodlums carry arms and they shoot innocent people. As a matter of fact, I saw four corpses. This is very sad and totally unequivocally unacceptable in Abuja.

Instead of the FCT minister to improvise on how to curb the situation by mobilising the necessary agency to the location for raiding of those hoodlums. I wonder what this closure will bring to people's table. Government are killing this country more and more

People are so unhinged. If it's not religion, it's utter madness. The world need serious healing.

The lady who died in the accident is from Edo State. Name is Bukky and lives in Jiwa, a community between Zauda and Gwagwa. It's not out of place to properly identify her, as she is not just a face in the crowd.

It is only who has not taken time to study the history of Nigeria that will not know the pattern certain things will takd

Another way of trying to ruin Igbos financially. I wonder what Igbos did to Buhari, whose mission since day one in power was to destroy the igbos.

Till when?

When FCT have been taken over by Thugs, from Okada, Scavengers, Kabu-kabu drivers and shanties in the city centre, especially Garki, Apo, Gudu and Wuse Districts.

After burning 🔥 down all the materials in the market

Just to add insult to injury.

Of what use is it Closing an already burnt down market 😔
