Despite well-paid jobs, there is not enough talent to fill vacancies, an industry body says.

The UK technology sector has a talent shortage which could "stifle growth", an industry body has warned.There were more than two million UK job vacancies in tech last year, more than any other labour area, but an industry coalition says nearly 12 million workers lack essential digital skills.However, schemes like boot camps, apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships do not seem to be enough to address the gap.

If tech businesses gave more than a 2% payrise I'm sure a lot wouldn't be facing this issue. At least that's the case with the company I work for

Why not train up the unemployed?

It’s not just tech talent with a shortage. I know a company in Lincolnshire with 90 live vacancies. Earlier in week, working in Birmingham, I drove into industrial estate where at least 3 in 5 companies have sign up showing ‘staff wanted’. It’s a massive problem for UK economy.

This is a result of not thinking it thru. To get local talent you train people (free of student loans). See nursing for an example
