The council confirmed the news in a statement

A popular Nottinghamshire market has been cancelled as a mark of respect to the late Queen Elizabeth II given that it was due to take place on the day of her funeral. Thousands of people are expected to attend a service at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19, to celebrate the life of Her Majesty.

King Charles III declared that the funeral would be a bank holiday, with businesses, councils and others making changes to their services as a result. Several bin collection changes have already been announced across Nottinghamshire on the day of the funeral. Broxtowe Borough Council has now announced that the Beeston Market will be cancelled next week. Beeston's market days take place between 9am and 3pm every Monday and Wednesday, alongside the monthly farmers' market which happens on the third Saturday of every month.

"The market will resume as normal on Monday 26th September." A pre-loved and collectors' market is usually held every Monday in Newark, but this is unlikely to go ahead on the day of the funeral as it never takes place on a bank holiday.
