We're cautiously optimistic about the vaccine development , which adds to hopes that Beijing will soften its restrictive pandemic policies after years of regular virus testing, limits on travel and rolling lockdowns that have weighed on the world's second-largest economy.

The Nasdaq has a "very, very strong" pipeline of Chinese companies that want to list on the exchange in the coming months as the U.S. and China appear closer to resolving an audit dispute, said Bob McCooey, vice chairman of Nasdaq.
