KUCHING: A total of 3,641 companies in Sarawak were forced to wind up throughout the Covid-19 pandemic from 2020 to date.

He said in order to mitigate the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, the federal government has provided various assistance like the National People’s Well-Being and Economic Recovery Package .

"Whereas, the Sarawak government has also implemented Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang Packages totalling RM6.7bil which includes financial and non-financial assistance for the rakyat including Small and Medium Enterprises . "From 2020 to date, more than 10,500 Sarawak entrepreneurs had received assistance from the state government with a total aid of RM187mil via various programmes,” he said in reply to a question by Safiee Ahmad during question and answer session at the Sarawak State Assembly sitting here, Tuesday .

Safiee wanted to know how many companies in Sarawak had gone out of business since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country and government’s efforts to help them recover their businesses. - Bernama
