Wild boar meat is a popular dish in overseas restaurants but in Australia it suffers from poor public perception, something stakeholders want to change in an effort to reduce the country's growing feral pig population.

They are considered a major pest that poses a significant threat to Australia's $65-billion agricultural industry by destroying crops, spreading disease and preying on livestock.

NFPAP management coordinator Heather Channon said people who ate feral pig meat that had not been properly inspected were at risk of food-borne infections. Safe Food Production Queensland compliance and verification director Rick Jackobson said there was an accreditation system for all wild game harvesters to ensure that meat was safe to eat.

"Beyond the damage that they are doing to both agricultural land and native habitats, it's also a nutritious and low carbon way to eat meat."

Or Wild Boar sausage as it's currently known.

Wild boar was on the menu while on holiday in Spain. Tasty.

Providing the meat passes all required tests and food standards why not, Australia imports Pork how does the consumer know where the imported Pork come from

If it's safe why not it's probably good

Some people still serve Scott Morrison, feral enough

If you can prove there isnt ringworm or heart worm or any other parasite

we had JNampijinpa over for dinner, and we served her.

But I want to eat ze bugz.

Sausages only. That’s how they do boar in the rest of the world.

I'm game

If they can guarantee that the pig is not infected with Brucellosis it would be acceptable

Kangaroos eat grass pigs eat anything including animal carcass. No wild pig for me but I’ll eat kangaroo

No because they more than likely have worms and will make you very sick dunbass

Is this Morrison in parliament today after the successful censure motion🤔🥴

Easy. Do it online with free delivery for a minimum order. It's a specialty product so needs direct sales. Oh, and go multilingual with all the names in white on white thịt lợn rừng 野猪肉 Carne de jabalí

What parasites will you also consume?

I had it in Frace once, delicious. Far more flavourful than farm-raised pork.

Yay, Wild Boar Goulash with bread dumplings and 🍺, here we come! gamemeatforsupermarkets

Better that than letting the carcass rot.

Had wild pig in Sweden and it tasted great. Strong flavour like most Wild Meats. Would need to be strict Primary Production and Processing standard as Feral pigs can harbour and transmit over 30 exotic, endemic and zoonotic pathogens of significance as well as parasites.

It’s the best thing for the environment

Ive seen feral cows, sheep and even feral ducks and chooks in my time. We eat all of these, so why not. It seems just the non meat eaters (some of who are probably feral from time to time themselves) object.

No: feral meat is very strong tasting, not to my liking.

Yes please but let's open up Qld National Parks to hunting so that people can take pest species themselves.

But what would the dogs then eat?

Don't worry about the cysts.

If they are disease free, any time.

No. Not because it's feral, but I don't like pork.

Makes good salami. Go for it

We are fed enough garbage from fake news.

Why not also why not feral, deer, horse, camel, carp toads idk is there a way of safely consuming cane toads? Probably a better idea than mass farmed meat?

That was mean 😥I'd have a shower if I was coming over for dinner.

Re-Brand to “Wild Boar” and you’ve got yourself a winner!

With governments threatening, and passing laws, to inject livestock with 'majik potion' game meat becomes a delicacy. We need to rediscover kangaroo as well as our food supply continues to be corrupted by WEF controlled governments.

Absolutely. I bow hunt feral pigs quite often

As a non pork consumer, definitely not.

Yep the boys drive up to outback NSW kill a heap of pigs drive around for a week with dead gutted picks in the back of the Ute no refrigeration etc yum! Ok if they take a butcher with refrigerated truck. I could see that happening every trip! Self regulation works well.

Good eating.

Sheesh ABC reporting about politicians in this country is getting out of hand.

Gotta be small ones otherwise they get too tuff.

NO as they are disease ridden.!!

We eat them here in Spain and it’s lush!

It's better meat than normal pigs.

Totally would

If you can get rid of the worms riddling their bodies would be just fine!

Only if there’s proof of how they were culled in an ethical manner, no suffering permitted in my food chain.

Brucellosis for tea tonight kids😂

in Japan they eat inoshishi wild boar all the time. yummo

delicious pigs

Why not? And bring on feral deer too - nothing better to eat than venison.
