All of the promising teases of the Ram 1500 REV all-electric pickup concept could still come to a production truck one day soon.

Ram showed us a wild concept for its first fullsize electric pickup truck. The Ram 1500 Revolution had edgy styling, a cool track system that ran the length of the truck, a powered midgate and removable third-row jump seats, no B pillars, and cool compartments built into the ends of the doors.

A lot of truck buyers veer more to the conservative side when it comes to their trucks and there were enough of these customers that the first model year of the 2025 Ram REV sold out in three days.asked Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares about the makeover that toned down the design and stripped out some of the coolest features—like the track system, jump seats, and giant Ramboxes.Patience grasshopper. The beauty of a concept is to show a direction and feed the imagination, Tavares said.

"You can be sure that this concept car is going to inspire many of the Ram truck offerings in the next few years," Tavares says, more than just the 1500 fullsize pickup. Ram is also working on a midsize pickup that could bear some of the concept's cues.We also asked Tavares if the makeover of the Ram is an ominous sign of what to expect when the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT concept goes into production as an electric muscle car.

They like the idea of zero emissions, even for a short distance, but are concerned about range and towing capability."We recognize that the U.S. market is not homogeneous with big differences between coastal areas and inland," Tavares says."We are going to do both." The extender is a means to charge the battery for use when the truck is in electric power mode. It is designed to charge the battery with the gas engine revving at a constant speed, he says.

"We want to protect the range and at the same time make sure that you have a significant improvement in terms of zero emissions," says the CEO."We are bringing solutions for two different kinds of customer segments."
