President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. appointed Maynard Ngu, the man behind the local cellphone brand Cherry Mobile, as the country’s Special Envoy to the People’s Republic of China for Trade, Investment and Tourism.

Ngu is the chief executive officer of Cosmic Technologies Incorporated, the company behind local cellphone giant Cherry Mobile.

As Special Envoy for Trade, Investment and Tourism, Ngu is responsible for the promotion of international trade and investment between the Philippines and China. He will also initiate discussions with stakeholders in business to maximize substantial trade and other economic opportunities. President Marcos appoints Maynard Ngu as Special Envoy of the Philippines to the People’s Republic of China for Trade, Investment and Tourism.
