Young people could be freed from the burden of huge student debts and industry guaranteed a pipeline of fresh talent if more companies were prepared to cover student loans, says a leading vice-chancellor.

“Companies are falling over each other trying to poach staff, especially engineers, IT specialists and cybersecurity people,” Professor Lloyd said. “Then there are the economics from a student perspective of getting a job versus going to university. UniSA also entered the world’s top 50 universities under 50 and is the highest ranked university in Australia for industry income.Professor Lloyd’s own background is telling as to his approach to equity.
