A legend of the M61 finally back in business

Lancashire's iconic Botany Bay mill will reopen to the public next week ahead of a major redevelopment.

The event is returning for the first time since 2019 and is run to support business ranging from sole traders to larger companies across a wide range of industries. Included in the schedule is a panel discussion chaired by BBC reporter Dave Guest. The event will give the public a rare opportunity to visit Botany Bay's mill building after its closure in 2019. Having started life as a major industrial hub, it was later used as garage and then as retail and leisure attractions.

That new building will feature include muti-storey parking, a helipad and hangar, and sports pitches while the mill itself will be transformed to house four floors of self-storage units with FIREM's headquarters at the top of the building. A garden terrace will also be added for its employees. "A wide variety of different sectors, backgrounds, and specialisms will be represented. This event is a rare opportunity to mix, share, teach, instruct, learn from and network with so many different local companies. We have also invited some of our external business support partners from the region for you to talk to and find out about all the great support available. Our business engagement team and other representatives will also be on hand to listen and support.
