This is a natural side effect of globalization & modern technology allowing people everywhere in the world to talk to each other about everything, including politics. Not much different than the chain e-mail forwards from your racist uncle. We have to trust voters to be smart.
Political ads should be banned from Facebook completely. Their targeting algorithms are too powerful. My neighbor shouldn't be getting 'news' or messaging that I can't see. At least require full disclosure of top 3 funders CACleanMoney
