ESKOM LIVE | Stage 6 load shedding to continue until Friday

Stage 6 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Thursday until 05:00 on Friday, Eskom said in a statement. Breakdowns stand at 17 863MW of capacity, while planned maintenance is at 2 437MW. Stage 6 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Monday due to delays in returning 10 generating units to service, Eskom said in a statement.

Breakdowns are currently at 18 144MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 3 427MW. A generating unit each at Grootvlei, Hendrina and Kriel have been returned to service, but a unit each at Camden and two units at Arnot broke down over the last 24 hours. There has also been a delay in returning to serviece units at Arnot, Camden, Hendrina, Kendal, Matimba, Matla and Tutuka. Due to the breakdown of a unit each at Arnot, Majuba and Medupi power stations, Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 05:00 to 16:00 on Tuesday - and not Stage 3 as Eskom previously said.

He criticises De Ruyter for having messianic and heroic tendencies, and using old-fashioned idealogical positions with respect to the ANC.

If a trusted CEO mentions to a shareholder minister that there are two ministers involved in corruption - why were the allegations not tested? "To write a book like this while you were supposed to be running a big organisation, so what was his focus?"Mente says appointing De Ruyter was an"horrible mistake". Gordhan says the accounting authority of Eskom is the board. "It could have been a very good choice, it could have been a very bad choice - you don't know how human beings behave".
