Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the man was arrested on Tuesday and is being remanded until Friday to facilitate investigations under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
ACP Yahaya said the police on Wednesday came across a 14-second video of the suspect being arrested that went viral on social media. "Having checked, we found that the 36-year-old victim lodged a police report on Tuesday," he said in a statement.ACP Yahaya said the police would complete the investigation papers and refer it to the Deputy Public Prosecutor with a recommendation to charge the suspect.
"The people are advised not to speculate on the video, which could jeopardise investigations and cause anxiety among the public," he added.
